Just a proof of concept. Where as soon as a person approaches the door at about 2 or 3 feet the door. You cannot see if the front roller door is open from anywhere within our house so the only way to check if it is open is to walk outside. Please note that this item not fit to iron door it will decline magnetic of the sensor.

So i built the first version of a garage controller. You might have seen automatic door opener systems at shopping malls cinemas hospitals etc. The trouble was that several nights i left the garage door open overnight so i thought i could use an arduino with a real time clock rtc to automatically close the garage door at 9 pm. If you experience any drift away from 1000 for whatever reason simply press the request calibration button and each sensor will be recalibrated back to 1000.

Only acceptable commands are processed close when door is open or open when door is closed. When the beam is broken an led light would turn on and then when the beam gets through the light turns off and i know that the car will clear the garage door. A door that is not completely opened or stays open for to long triggers an alarm.
