My mom has a house with a central return and as you suggest her doors have about a 1 5 gap underneath to allow air to flow. My remodel contractor installed my doors with the full door jam which left 1 plus of gap at the bottom of all the doors. Standards and rules of gaps formation between a door and a frame. There is no minimum gap between the floor and underside of the door in the building regs unless it s a bathroom door that has no windows which would need a 10mm gap between the door and the carpet.

Its just good practice for a builder to make sure the door doesn t drag on the carpet prior to handover.
